I was arguing with someone that it would be warm in Patagonia in January, since it is summer time. Turns out, although it is indeed summer south of the equator in January, Patagonia is a glacier, not a mountain range, and it will definitely be cold there.
D-Lab would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
In order to better interact with its customers, D-Lab is proud to announce a new look for its website. The underlying blog platform now allows customers to interactively post comments on the website as well as subscribe to RSS feeds for the latest content.
In attempt to better market itself, D-LAB officially revealed it’s promotional items to the public. The fashionable items which had been meticulously designed by Seth were met with great favor by associates and strangers alike. That evening, Hoff was quoted as saying “Oh no… oh no… man… what… I tell you, the retribution for this will be harsh”. Tank who literally fell on his ass was not available for comment. To access the store, and purchase one of thse fine, limited edition items, click here.
Participants
Tank, Danger, Hoff and Seth were in attendance
Situational Analysis
The meeting began with a brief recap of recent activity. A brief analysis of members current position and trajectory on the value curve showed that while Seth, Hoff and Tank were currently in, or headed to the high value region, Danger’s metrics showed that things had in fact “spiraled out of control”. No solution to this issue was determined at the meeting.
After this status update, the members focused on issues related to the trip to Argentina. The following issues were determined.
Accommodation
Stay in a hotel in Buenos Aires December 28-January 2
Travel to beach for January 2-3
Condo accommodations (2 bed/2 bath in Palermo or Recolleta) January 3-26
Travel Argentina TBD January 26-February 2
Website
Desire to schedule a video session to add video content to the website
Video’s to include a personal introduction from each of the members
Budget
NYE - $250/person for entertainment expenses
Hotel Accommodations - $100/night/person
Condo Expenses - $2000-3000/month
Employment
Mild panic was expresses over the fact that employment plans had yet to be confirmed.
Additional fundraising strategies were discussed including:
- Hiking up a mountain and selling advertising space on our backpacks
- “Sponsored by Cannon - on all of our Flickr photos”
- Writing assignment, possibly for the Metro, Lonely Planet, German Newspapers, Jungle MBA magazine, etc.
- Working for Myspace to increase market penetration in Argentina
Action Items
Hoff - Sort out and display options for accommodations
Seth - Continue to aggressively pursue employment opportunities
Danger - Think seriously about the consequences of his actions and the risk he is exposing DLAB to
Tank - Provide video footage to improve DLAB’s external appearance
On the evening of October 27th, D-Lab gathered together to celebrate the popular American Cultural holiday - Halloween. To commemorate this event, the group reserved a dinner table at one of Boston’s snootiest restaurants and arrived dressed in full costume. Dinner was followed by an enthusiastic participation in the Boston Halloween celebrations. “The Hoff”, while dressed in Leiderhosen, reached his full potential early in the evening through an aggressive drinking campaign. In an amazing demonstration of D-Lab principles, “The Tank” managed to prevent local authorities from unnecessarily restraining “The Hoff” for a perfectly acceptable display of public nudity.
Continuing in the spirit of education and collaborative learning, the founders of D-Lab hosted a special SIP class entitled “Up Close and Personal: Circle of Trust at the Crossroads”. Not surprisingly, this special offering generated huge demand from within the MBA class, but attendance was limited to former Circle of Trust participants. During the event, students were challenged to ask the questions: “What is Trust?”, “What is in this drink?” and “Why is the Hoff wearing Leiderhosen?”. Social barriers were broken down and personal experiences were shared.
The D-Lab board leaves US soil on its first international mission. The objective was to commence the hypotheses building phase before finalizing the model building scheduled for January 08. Surveys of Individual player activity, player productivity as well as macro cross checks were conducted. The player based bottom-up estimation in line with past development is being formulated in a number of interviews with the ladies of COT.
On September 2nd, the founding members of D-Lab reconvened in Boston at the residence of Hoff and Seth. Although the venue was still unfurnished the members were able to enjoy several cold beverages, discuss recent financial market activity, and share photographs of international accomplishments.
